Alize is the French alizé, the word for the "trade wind" that blows across the Caribbean, and it reached American parents by way of the liqueur Alizé, which was name-checked in hip-hop songs of the late 1990s. It entered the top 1000 in 2000 at number 796, peaked at number 744 in 2002 and has settled far lower, at number 2999 in 2025.
