Aleena is a modern spelling of Alina, a name used across Europe that is usually traced to Adeline and the Germanic adal, "noble", or to Helen and the Greek word for "light". It is also a favorite among Muslim families in South Asia and the Middle East, which has helped it spread in the United States.
