Alaric is a Gothic name, Alareiks, built from ala, "all", and reiks, "ruler", so it means "ruler of all". Alaric I, king of the Visigoths, sacked Rome in 410, and the name later turned up as a vampire-hunting teacher in the TV series The Vampire Diaries. Alaric entered the US top 1000 in 2017, peaked at number 822 in 2020 and ranks number 1063 in 2025.
