Ainara is a Basque name from the word ainara or enara, which means "swallow", the migratory bird that returns each spring. It became one of the most popular girls' names in Spain in the 2000s and has reached Spanish-speaking families in the United States from there. Ainara had fewer than five births in 2000, rose from number 2524 in 2020 to the top 1000 in 2023, peaked at number 866 that year and ranks 898th in 2025.
