Agatha comes from the Greek agathos and means "good" or "kind". St. Agatha of Sicily, a 3rd-century martyr honored on February 5, made it a Christian classic, and mystery writer Agatha Christie is its best-known modern bearer. Once a solid 19th-century name, Agatha is now rare in the United States but inching back: number 4294 in 2000, number 1532 in 2021 and number 1703 in 2025.
