Adolfo is the Spanish, Italian and Portuguese form of Adolf, a Germanic name built from adal, noble, and wolf, meaning "noble wolf". Unlike the German original, it never carried a political stigma in the Spanish-speaking world and remained a normal family name there. In the United States Adolfo stood at number 546 in 2000, peaked at number 488 in 2003 and has since fallen to number 1887 in 2025.
