Zorawar is a Punjabi name from the Persian zor-awar, meaning "powerful" or "brave". Sikh families cherish it in memory of Zorawar Singh, the young son of Guru Gobind Singh who was martyred in 1705, and of the 19th-century general Zorawar Singh Kahluria. In the United States it is carried by Sikh and Punjabi American families and has risen sharply, from number 9565 in 2015 to number 1722 in 2024 and number 1905 in 2025.
