Therese is the French and German form of Teresa, a name of uncertain origin that is usually explained as "harvest" or "summer", from the Greek therizein, or linked to the island of Therasia. Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, the Little Flower, made it a cherished Catholic name in the 19th century. In the United States Therese peaked at number 1584 in 2001 and ranks number 2324 in 2025.
