Simea is a name of "uncertain origin". It is usually explained as a feminine form of the biblical Shimea, a brother of David whose Hebrew name means "heard" or "God has heard", the same root that gives us Simeon and Simone; some parents simply hear it as a soft blend of Simone and Mia. The name is brand new in US records: 2025 is the first year it was given to at least five girls, and it entered at number 2511 with 71 births.
