Rhea is the name of a Titaness in Greek mythology, the mother of Zeus, Hera and Poseidon; its meaning is uncertain and is usually explained as "flowing", from the Greek rheo, or connected to the word for "earth". The name is also used in India as a variant of Riya, which helps explain its recent rise. In the United States Rhea entered the top 1000 in 2015 at number 996, climbed to a peak of 527 in 2023 and ranks 639 in 2025.
