Reggie is the short form of Reginald, which goes back to the Germanic Raginald and means "counsel" and "ruler", often glossed as "ruler's advisor". Baseball slugger Reggie Jackson, known as Mr. October, made the nickname famous on its own. In the United States Reggie ranked number 1461 in 2000, peaked at number 1421 in 2002 and has recovered from a dip to number 2559 in 2017 to stand at number 1860 in 2025.
