Ramy is a spelling of the Arabic Rami and means "archer" or marksman, from the verb for throwing or shooting. It is common in Egypt and the Levant, and Egyptian American comedian Ramy Youssef brought it to American television with his series Ramy in 2019. The name ranked number 2977 in 2000, slipped as low as number 6639 in 2016 and has rebounded to number 2563 in 2025, its best rank so far.
