Psalm is a word name taken from the Book of Psalms; the Greek psalmos means a "sacred song" sung to the harp. It belongs to the small group of Christian word names such as Messiah and Legend that have spread in the United States in recent years. The name jumped after Kim Kardashian and Kanye West named their son Psalm in 2019, climbing from number 5739 that year to number 1110 in 2025, its best rank so far.
