Mehar is a Punjabi name from the Persian mihr, which means "kindness" or "grace" and is also the name of the ancient sun deity Mithra; in Sikh families it is often understood as divine grace. It is popular among Punjabi speakers in India, Pakistan and the diaspora, sometimes spelled Meher or Mehr.
