Maksim is the Russian, Ukrainian and Serbian form of Maximus, the Latin name meaning "greatest". It is one of the most popular boys' names in Russia and was carried to the United States by Russian, Ukrainian and other Eastern European immigrants. Maksim entered the top 1000 at its peak of number 969 in 2011, stayed in the 1100s and 1300s through the mid-2010s and has slipped to number 2466 in 2025 with 55 boys.
