Lux is the Latin word for "light" and is also the scientific unit of illumination, which gives the name a bright, modern edge. As a given name it is a recent arrival, used for both sexes and sometimes as a short form of Lucas or Luxton. For boys in the United States Lux broke into the top 1000 at number 981 in 2022 and stands at number 1168 in 2025.
