Khyrie is a modern spelling of Kyrie, which comes from the Greek kyrios and means "lord", familiar from the prayer Kyrie eleison, "Lord, have mercy". The name took off in America thanks to the basketball star Kyrie Irving, and the Kh spelling follows names such as Khalil and Khari. In the United States Khyrie rose from number 3191 in 2015 to a peak of number 1967 in 2018 and stands at number 2119 among boys' names in 2025.
