Khadijah is an English spelling of the Arabic Khadija, traditionally explained as "premature child" or "born early". The name is honored throughout the Muslim world because Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, a successful merchant, was the first wife of the Prophet Muhammad and the first person to accept his message. In the United States the name has never entered the top 1000 but has been gaining ground, rising from number 1877 in 2015 to number 1298 in 2024 and 1432 in 2025.
