Karmen is a K-spelling of Carmen, which goes back to the Hebrew Mount Carmel, "garden" or "orchard", by way of the Spanish title Nuestra Señora del Carmen, and was later blended with the Latin carmen, "song". The K is common in Slovene and Croatian as well as in the United States. Karmen ranked number 2135 in 2000, climbed to a best rank of 1063 in 2008 and has declined to number 1875 in 2025.
