Jetson is a modern American name that attaches the -son ending of Jackson and Hudson to Jett, which comes from the glossy black gemstone "jet"; it also exists as a rare English surname. Most Americans will hear a wink at The Jetsons, the space-age cartoon family of the 1960s, which gives the name a playful, retro-futuristic feel. Jetson has moved up from number 4024 in 2015 to number 1470 in 2025, its best rank yet, but remains outside the top 1000.
