Jessiah is a modern American blend of Jesse and the biblical -iah ending of Josiah and Messiah. Jesse, the father of King David, bears a Hebrew name of uncertain meaning that is usually explained as "gift" or "God exists", and Jessiah borrows that reading. Jessiah stood at number 1448 in 2015, peaked at number 1273 in 2020 and ranks 1817 among boys' names in 2025.
