Jawad is an Arabic name meaning "generous" or "open-handed", one of the qualities most admired in classical Arab culture, and in Shia tradition it is the epithet of the ninth Imam, Muhammad al-Jawad. The name is common in the Arab world, Iran and South Asia and is used in the United States by Muslim families. Jawad has stayed around number 2000 to 2500 for a decade and reached number 1925 in 2025, its best rank so far.
