Jakobe is an American spelling that recasts Jacob with the k of the German and Scandinavian Jakob and an echo of Kobe at the end. Jacob comes from the Hebrew Ya'akov and means "supplanter" or "holder of the heel", after the biblical patriarch who grasped his twin's heel at birth. Jakobe entered the US top 1000 in 2001, peaked at number 818 in 2003 and had a brief return in 2020 at number 836; in 2025 it ranks 1461.
