Draco is the Latin word for "dragon" or "serpent" and the name of a constellation that winds between the Big and Little Dipper. It was also the name of the Athenian lawgiver whose harsh code gave us the word draconian, and today most people know it from Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter books. In the United States Draco rose from outside the top 3000 in 2015 to number 1208 in 2021 and ranks number 1733 among boys' names in 2025.
