Deanna is a 20th-century name, usually explained as a feminine form of Dean, "valley" or "church official", or as a spelling of Diana, the Roman goddess of the moon whose name means "divine". The Canadian-born singer and actress Deanna Durbin popularized it in the late 1930s. Deanna ranked number 303 in 2000, left the top 1000 in the 2010s and stands at number 2175 in 2025.
