Dalani is a modern American coinage that borrows the sound of Hawaiian names ending in -lani, a word meaning "heaven" or "sky", much like Kalani and Leilani. It has no long history of its own, which lets parents give it a personal meaning. Dalani was a rarity at number 8107 in 2015, but it has climbed steadily since and reached number 1884 in 2025, its best rank to date.
