Case is an English surname turned first name; it goes back to the Old French casse and meant a "box" or "chest" maker, though many parents simply hear it as a crisp short form of Casey. It belongs to the family of one-syllable boys' names like Cash and Colt that took off in the 2000s. Case entered the top 1000 in 2006, peaked at number 468 in 2014 and ranks number 733 in 2025.
