Brendon is a variant of Brendan, the Irish Bréanainn, which is usually traced to the Welsh word brenhin and means "prince" or "king". Saint Brendan the Navigator, the 6th-century monk said to have sailed the Atlantic, made the name a classic in Ireland. The spelling Brendon peaked in the United States at number 348 in 2000, has since dropped out of the top 1,000 and ranks number 2,683 among boys in 2025, with 48 births.
