Azlan is a Malay and Turkish form of Aslan, the Turkic word for "lion", famous in the English-speaking world as the great lion of C. S. Lewis's Narnia books. It is popular in Malaysia and among Muslim families in South Asia, and it joins the group of lion names like Leo and Ari that American parents like. Azlan climbed from number 9197 in 2000 to number 978 among boys' names in 2025, its first year in the US top 1000.
