Alyanna is a modern elaboration of Aliana and Eliana, built from the fashionable Aly- opening and the ending -anna; through Eliana it can be traced to the Hebrew for "my God has answered", though most parents simply choose it for its sound. The name is also popular in the Philippines, where spellings with y are common. Alyanna peaked at number 1485 in 2012 in the United States, slipped to around number 2750 in 2024 and has bounced back to number 2036 in 2025.
