Aleida is a Dutch and Spanish form of Adelaide, from the Germanic adal, "noble", and heid, "kind" or sort, so it means "of noble kind". It has been in use in the Netherlands since the Middle Ages and is common today in Mexico, Cuba and the Caribbean. In the United States Aleida ranked number 4986 in 2000, climbed to its best position of number 2315 in 2023 and stands at number 2543 in 2025.
