Ahmad is an Arabic name that means "most praised" or "highly commendable", from the same root as Muhammad. It is one of the names of the Prophet in Islamic tradition and is used across the Muslim world from Morocco to Indonesia, usually spelled Ahmad in Persian and South Asian usage and Ahmed in Egypt and Turkey. In the United States Ahmad was number 454 in 2000, peaked at 386 in 2001 and ranks 669 in 2025.
